We will post a complete statement ASAP. In the meantime, here are some highlights:
Representatives of the 4 countries in which Paul Whelan has citizenship--US, Canada, UK, Ireland--visited Paul at Lefortovo prison, Moscow, on Monday, December 32rd. Deputy Chief of Mission Bart Gorman spoke to the press after the visit.
"In a case where there is no evidence and no crime it's time to have him released," Gorman said.
And today, December 24th Christmas Eve, a judge in Moscow City Court continued Paul's detention until the end of March, 2020. Paul was unable to properly talk to media, but was able to hold up two signs, which read:
I remain innocent!
No espionage!
No evidence!
No red hands!
Drill deeper, Mr. Lavrov!
FSB tools lie to you,
They threaten me!
No fair trial in Russia!
Fabricated case!
PM & POTUS, please act
To stop this nonsense!
Whelan held up a second page of his statement:
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
Thank you to my family, friends, governments, Consulates, and media for your support!
